Hi all! I have finally received a set of Creative T5900 5.1 Speakers. They seem very good but for some reason it refuses to drive the centre speaker. My setup is AMD 64 3000+, with a DFI LanParty UT Nforce 3 250Gb. On that is a nVidia Soundstorm audio chip, apparently with 8 channels. I?m using Nvmixer 1.0 that came with the mobo, Audio Driver V4.45 (Or 6.14 it says both) with a single AC97 8 channel audio codec.
The last speakers I had where nTech 2.1?s, and the sub appeared to have burnt its self out. Whenever I plug any speakers into the Centre/Sub-woofer port on the IO panel I get nothing at all. I?ve tested with the speakers in my monitor as well, same, no response.
Now the most confusing this is when I run the speaker setup wizard in nvmixer I get sound out of them all, including the centre channel, and however I do it I get sound from the sub.
I have checked that both the control panel and nvmixer are set to 5.1 systems, and I?ve even re-installed the driver. Do I need a new sound card or is there something real noobish I haven?t seen?
Please reply even if you only have an idea, I?m desperate now! I will give mo re details if they are needed.
Dan

So with the testing program you get sound from all the speakers, but when listening to other stuff, you don't get sound from the center?

If you're listening to something without center info, this could be just normal operation. Are you testing it with music? Music is stereo and unless you set your soundcard/integrated audio to manipulate it to play on all the speakers, it may only play on the front ones or in a 4.1 manner.

Some games also only output in 4.1 if you've tried that too.

Try putting in a DVD and see if that works for you.

If you need music to come out the center, try looking around your cound uliity program for something called "Stereo Expander, or 5 channel stereo, or Party Mode, or Virtual 5.1" or some checkbox that looks like it might be an option to expand a stereo signal to 5.1 playback.
