5.1 sound on a Shuttle SN95G5 V3

i've got the Klipsch 5.1 ProMedia (non Ultra). when watching movies or just playing music via Winamp, i can't get the subwoofer to output any bass. every other speaker works from the front L/R, the rear L/R, and the center channel.

any ideas how to get the sub to work? all my connections are correct and since the center and bass comes from the same connection, the connection appears to be correct since the center channel works.
