So i've been out of the home theater scene for a while. What is a good 5.1 receiver with at least 3 HDMIs in for hopefully under $200? Doesnt need anything fancy like 4k or 2 zones. Some kind of room correction for speakers would be nice though.

under $200? look at a refurb
do you need 4k? i would look at a denon 710. the 510 is ok, but i prefer posts over clips

if no 4k then last years model would be fine

most receivers have room correction nowadays. its a matter of which correction you want. I like denon as they use audessy.

No i dont need 4k. I'll worry about that later when its a reality more than a novelty 🙂
 
Refurbed Donor Yamaha from accessories4less.com. If you can up the price range $50 it opens your options a lot.
 
Yeah, finding something at $200 might be hard these days unless refurb.

Possibly that ? And it does 4K at $200. And comes with the auto calibration, and 4 HDMI inputs. I used a similar one in the past for about a decade that died for 5.1, upgraded it a bit when that one finally died out.

I imagine a lot of people probably do not like SONY AVR's. But I've been using them awhile now, with no complaints.

It sounds almost exactly like what you're looking for.

I bought one of these on sale when my old 5.1 died, I liked that old Sony so well.

The 477 seems a better buy for the same price. Tempting. The streaming spotify from my phone would be cool. I cant do that on my denon i have in another room i dont think.

It's all good, just was making a recommendation from what I've used over time 🙂

I still have a few Yamaha things around here and there, still have some Kenwood speakers that work well from the early 80s.

A room mate when I was in the Marines back when I bought those I had an audio war going on at the time, he had bought some new huge Polks, with the satellites on top.

It was pretty funny, we were on third floor of a BEQ at the time and would just open the room up sometimes and put both systems on the same Rock FM station and crank them both up and people would be hanging out in the beer garden, playing frisbee, etc below 😛

We were kind of the live broadcast guys at MCAS Kaneohe Bay at the time.

We'd just go walk out on the catwalk, walking into the room would kill your ears if you were in it very long.

The Sony isn't very well priced. Fyi, I bought the DH740 last year for 189 thru Amazon. It was replaced two times because the HDMI pass thru port could not supply enough voltage leading to random blackscreens while watching content. OP is not using 4k pass thru but it's a limitation to be aware of. It's not just Sony either, had same problems with an Onkyo 636, returned that too. I ended up moving up to a Pioneer Elite with real 4k ports and have not had this issue again.
 
I've got a Sony DN1040 that I use in my main PC room with 3 computers hooked to it via hdmi. Not sure if it's under 200 by now. I know they came out with a new updated model a while ago though. It's a nice receiver though. It was like around $500 when I bought it. Probably be much cheaper by now.

I'm still happy with the last Sony I bought, but mainly just use 2 HDMI and a couple Toslink optical to it on the main.

Have never even messed with the Bluetooth on it etc.
