Okay, I'm kinda curious here . . . some people say that the SB Live! cards do their 5.1 processing in software. Other people say it's hardware. Either way, I get the impression that none of the people who weigh in on this know either one for sure. So I guess I have two questions here . . . and obviously, the answer to the first can nix the second question altogether.
1) Do SB Live! 5.1 cards use hardware or software to make the nice 5.1 signal?
~and~
2) If it does use software, I've got a Platinum that's itching to put out some real dolby digital . . . none of this pansy pro logic crap
. . . is there any way I can use the 5.1 platinum's drivers on my not-5.1 platinum?
Thanks for any info!
