5.1 Decoder for XBox and Laptop

Hi
I am looking for a receiver/decoder which can used with an Xbox system as well to play dvds/games from an Laptop.
Something like a Soundblaster Extigy which has optical in and usb input from laptop. But extigy has been discontinued. Audigy NX does have an optical in to be used as an standalone decoder but it seems it needs to be connected to the laptop.
Maya 5.1 USB does not seem to have a decoder built in :-(
My laptop does not have a 5.1 sound card.
Any suggestions?

does it have to be as portable as your laptop? if not, you can go for an entry level audio receiver. Are you using computer speakers that require mini plugs and don't require amplification?

I have Kinyo 5.1 headphones. I intend to use them with the receiver/decoder. It has its own amp.
Can an audio receiver be used with a laptop?
