5.1 Audio Question

Hey Guys,
I had a question. If I was still to use "5.1" but replace my front 2 speakers with floor standing tower speakers, would that work? If it does, could i just take out the sub or would that cause some sort of distortion as they bass isn't carried in that signal but rather the .1 parT? 😛

Thanks,
Kevin

First question: Yes, you can.. make sure they're pretty close on wattage ratings, otherwise you could seriously overpower or underpower your towers.
Second one: I would think that the bass is still carried to all speakers. The crossover just sends it all to the speakers, but only lower frequencies to the sub.

Can you give us your specs...your sort of vague here.

For reference, one of your components must have a variable crossover so that you can add it to a set.

ie...in the reciever/preamp to filter out the frequencies and send them to the speakers, and perhaps one on the sub so that it can be adjusted to match the reciever and speakers settings..

Hey,
Rather would there be a good Speaker/Receiver combo that may work? Right now I'm on some Philips stuff that I got on sale 😉 Can't find any specs online about. I was thinking of a decent receiver with some Infinitys in front. Any ideas or good "inexpensive" speaker sets/receiver?
