5 1/4" floppy drive on Windows XP

Just wondering if anyone ever get the good old 5 1/4" floppy drive to work on Windows XP? Anyone? Please don't ask me why...its for work related. We retrived these floppies from storage and the company wants the info on it.

it should work just fine

i haven't tried it. i tossed my last 5.25 drive a few years back, but i do still have some 1.2MB disketts at home

hmmmm....I wonder if any driver need to be installed. I tried getting it to work yesterday but no luck.

it might be broke. did you try the drive in a win98 or win95 or dos box?

Yeah, don't you need to specify the floppy type in the BIOS?

Ya, it Windows doesn't find it - did BIOS? I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

I have to check-out of the geek-division... I can't remember the capacity of a 5 1/4" floppy.

the most advanced ones were 1.2 MB

before that, 760Kb , then 360Kb , somewhere around that

there might have been a lower capacity before that, i don't remember
