When you talk about recent innovative games Bastion has to be up at or at least near the top of the list.

Thanks for the heads up. I jut saw this was recently ported to the Mac so i'm hoping this will play on my 2008 MacBook Pro.. If not I always have the PC listed in my sig. 🙂

Anybody played Dustforce yet? Looks like a Super Meat Boy-esque platformer which I like, but videos can be deceiving.

Seeing all the recommendations, I think I'm going to jump on Bastion. Is the Soundtrack edition worth the extra $$$ or should I just stick to the plain vanilla one?

I think the guy that does the voice in Bastion is the voice in the AM/PM commercials, if not they sound exactly a like. It kills the game for me kinda because when I played all I could think about was gas station hot dogs & those weird chop & formed BBQ pork sandwiches.

Agreed that Bastion is a must have. Brilliant game. Great music, great visuals, great and original style of narration, and most importantly excellent gameplay.

"Kid just rages for a while..."

I decided against the soundtrack for Bastion back during the holiday sale, I think it was all going for $15. But both for $10? No reason to not get it.

I bought Bastion a while ago on one of its other sales and it sat in my backlog for quite a while. I finally got around to firing it up, and yes it was fun for a while, but I don't understand the unabashed adoration so many have for it. The combat is pretty simple, the leveling and upgrade systems are very basic, and there really isn't anything else to the game.

It does have a good artistic style but not much variety and it loses its charm after a while. The story is moderately intriguing but not enough to keep me coming back.

I made it through quite a bit of the game
(I have all the crystals or whatever it is you chase after first, and have gathered I think 3 shards or whatever the smaller things are that you chase after later)
, far enough I think that the rest is mostly just repetitive chase down the items you need in the different areas of the world. Maybe I'll get to mix it up with a new weapon or two (I think only 1 is left unlocked at the moment), but theres very little incentive for me to keep playing.

Maybe I'll finish it someday but I think of it as more of a 5-6 hour entertaining distraction, not an absolutely amazing must have game. That said, for the price its not a bad pickup. I don't feel ripped off, but I do feel letdown based on the expectations I got from people on this forum.

I picked up Bastion based on the recommendations and I gotta tell ya, it's not doing much for me. What is supposed to wow me here? All I really want is for the old guy to shut up 🙁

I wasn't as wow'd by Bastion as others here seem to be. I found it to be ok, the narrator and music were worth it alone though, they made the game for me.

Yeah it's a fine game, not as godly as others claim it to be, but it's fine. Nothing terribly special about it other than the audio. Dat narration.
