Sweet, just got my 4X DVD-R media for my Cendyne (Pioneer A 105) 4X burner, it's seriously faster.

I'm determined to upgrade every generation of speed bumps, just sold my A104 on eBay for $5 more than I paid for it:D

16x, actually. I think Toshiba just announced technology that could do that and will be available by 2004.

I picked up one of the same 4x drive you have... only used it at 1x so far. Just bought some 2x disks and they should be here anyday. I just couldn't see spending $2 per disc... I paid 92¢ per disc for the 2x.

If you were to fill the DVD completely with data, how long does it take?

1x = ~1 hour
2x = 30 minutes
4x = 15 minutes

Interesting that's almost the same time for writing CDs at those speeds.

Yup, some have protection (I think) but there are ways around that. ;)

Score... I was hoping it wouldn't take forever to burn the videos I'm going to be filming this summer. :D

DVD X Copy

It puts a full length DVD on 2 4,7 gig blank DVD R's, so you need a multi disc player.

I like it cuz my 10 year old is so hard on DVD's & I plan on installing an auto DVD player soon...

But with dvdxcopy it will put it over 2 discs. A better alternative is dvd2one. It lets you cut out the "junk" and leaves the movie intact. it will compress it a bit to fit but the quality IMHO is not affected. Works great.

Also...

Dvd95Copy
Pinnacle Instant Copy

from what I've heard, Dvd95Copy is the best one out atm, but I have yet to try it.
