4x AGP slot + radeon 9600xt = bottleneck?

well i've been running a geforce4 mx440 for the last few years and am looking to upgrade my video card. still on a budget tho, so i'm planning on getting a radeon 9600xt, and the only thing i'm worried about is the possible AGP bottleneck. my mobo only has a 4x AGP slot and i was wondering if this would cause a bottleneck since the 9600xt is an 8x AGP card.

i'll be pairing this 9600xt with an athlon xp 2200+.

thanks in advance.

No, the 4X AGP slot is not a bottleneck at all for that card. Even on an Athlon64, a 9600XT wouldn't really benefit from AGP 8X.

You'd need at least a card in the 9800 Pro class to get a bit of a boost from AGP 8X, and you're a bit CPU limited with that 2200+ anyways.

For now, the 9600XT and the XP 2200+ are an ok match (certainly better than the GF4 MX440).

thx man. yeah thats why i opted not to get a 9800pro since then the athlon xp 2200+ would be another bottleneck.
