I only speak for myself when I say this but Logitech makes a great mouse but there way of thinking is totally backwards. As a gamer I use shift and ctrl as my gaming keys due to easy access, yet Logitech has a 4th/thumb button that can only be assigned to shift and ctrl. Whats the big idea here??? I cant understand why the 4th button cant be assigned to something other than those 2 keys making it more useful. Has anyone found a way around this solution any help would be appreciated. "This seems to be an ongoing problem for games such as Quake, it only recognizes shift and ctrl

I'm not sure what you're complaining about. You DO or DON'T want the button to be able to be mapped to those two commands? Personally, I map it to "Middle Button", and then most games recognize that as mouse button 3.

You using the latest Mouseware drivers? I have the Logitech Dual optical - all buttons, including the thumb button, can be assigned to pretty much any key.

If you dont install any drivers, then it just reads the button as Mouse4 in most of my games... I dont understand what you mean about shift and control... is it an OS thing?

on my logitech optical mouseman (the blue one).. the thumb button could be bound to anything on their list. f keys, ctrl, shift, alt, space, middle, etc. Using it as shift or ctrl always introduced lag in quake 3.. weopons wouldn't switch fast enough and there was a brief pause (which left me for dead one too many times.. i have an MS mouse again). regardless, i wasn't limited to only those two keys. wouldn't see why they'd limit it w/ the dual.
