4TB consumer SSD availability

I read all over the Internet half a year ago that Samsung was going to release a 4TB 850 EVO. Around the same time Mushkin showed a 4TB SSD. Where are they? Guru3D also made a news article about the 4TB EVO shipping in the UK around April, yet there are no signs of it ever existing. Are they not releasing them until the market for such a drive is right? I'd like to get two of them.

I'm guessing they're in the warehouse alongside the Intel/Micron Optane SSDs. Prices at least for Samsung drives have gone up as of late, could be cost but maybe it's an inability to produce them in large quantities or they're focusing on the enterprise channels.

Such variants will undoubtedly use TLC, at least to begin with. Who the hell would want such junk given after a few weeks it'll be transferring data slower than an HDD?

OP did mention 850 EVO. Which uses 3D V-NAND TLC. Which, no-one has shown any evidence of "read slowdowns" on those drives. (Unlike the 840 and 840 EVO, which use planar TLC, and have shown read slowdowns.)

Reality has taken a lot of the excitement out of SSDs, even for an enthusiast like myself. I've been on the SSD bandwagon for 10 years now, buying many different controllers and quantities. What I'd really like to see is something akin to the 850 EVO, but PCIe/NVMe, 2TB, under $300. 4TB SSDs under $500 would be great for replacing the rust in my servers...

I went ahead and placed an order for three 2TB 850 EVO SSDs and the new 10TB Seagate HDD.

Don't want to wait for the 4TB SSDs.

And of course just two weeks after posting this thread and buying the 2TB drives, Samsung goes ahead and releases the 4TB drive.

At $1500...the 2TB ones have been as low as $600 IIRC.
