4KB partition alignment bad for new SSDs?

Since newer SSDs use NAND with 8KB pages, is it bad if your partition is aligned on 4KB boundries? I would think so.

Does anyone know what the default alignment of the Win7 installer is? Is it smart enough to align for 8KB pages too?

8K still lines up well enough when using 4K pages. If it was the other way round then you would be in for some issues.

NTFS IIRC is fixed at 4K in most cases, though some third party tools can set what you want, but at 8K blocks, I suspect slack space wastage would get rather large.

That's why you align to 1024k (Win7 default). It's divisible by every conceivable page and block size.

In the next year or so 2048k will probably be optimal.

where would you even change the alignment? I didn't know it was even an option (unless you mean changing it with partition magic after the fact)
