They seem to be getting better and better for PC usage. I recall early 4k units lacking HDMI 2.0 therefore being stuck on 30hz and/or difficulty getting 4:4:4 chroma sub-sampling.

Picked up a 40" Samsung KU7000 a few days ago based on this thread for KU6400 (same panel) with many apparently happy owners and was surprised at how solid it is for PC usage. My dream PC monitor would probably be the LG 38UC99 (38") ultra-wide with 3840x1600 res... but.... $1400.

Found that some people getting good results with ultra-wide custom 21:9 res and thats what I did (3840x1620). Frankly was having a bit of a hard time with regular 4k res due to the height of the 40" TV. Had to move my head to look up at upper parts of the screen which seemed quite distant from the eye level parts. Solved this by removing the stand and wall mounting it to be suspended about 2cm above desktop which also moved it a few inches further back. And the 21:9 res further lowered the viewing area. Pretty darn impressed with the results. Calibrated it with colorimeter to get 6500k, 148 cd/m2 brightness, 2.2 gamma, 4000:1 contrast ratio.

Tried FO4, Crysis 1, ROTR (all basically maxed out on GTX 1070 with little to no AA) no so far and pretty satisfied with the performance, as its less taxing than full 4k (about 25% less pixels). IQ is fantastic with 1:1 scaling. First VA panel I own and impressed, viewing angles not very good (surprised VA used on a TV), but no issues from viewing straight on from chair.

For a 4k TV, pretty good. I see no discernible difference vs my 1440p IPS (catleap), but the latter's refresh rate can be OC'd to 110hz while 4k screens are stuck on 60hz. Rting.com review with input lag figures: http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/ku7000 . Bear in mind I'm using this as a 'dumb monitor' rather than smart TV, so much of the reviews focus points do not apply to me. For gaming obviously there are far better choices, but I'm not a fast paced gamer, so for what it does quite happy with it.

Some TVs make really good monitors/gaming displays despite the lack of xxxg4m3rxxx stickers all over them. VA LCDs are used for many TVs because the contrast ratio is so much greater than IPS. This is much more important in HDR displays, where you need much higher contrast ratios to augment the differences between dark and light.
