From a free-candy-at-unregistered-black-van-in-the-dark-alley company named Seiki (never heard of them).

But, hey, a $1300 50" 4K display is a 50" $1300 4K display, regardless of it's very possible shortcomings.

What says Anandtech now that we don't have to sell our internal organs just to come by one of these puppies?

This one actually turned up in the Hot Deals section nearly a week ago.

Oddly enough, it was that very thread, with its promise of impending 4K panels for roughly the same amount of money as a 30" Dell which prompted me to post a thread to the peripherals section. Not that they're that close, seeing as how this is a 50", 30Hz imput TV.

But if only they could ramp up the PPI on such a 4K panel to the point where it could be crammed into a 30-32" screen capable of 60Hz imput. Well...

I think the problem is the HDMI spec doesn't allow for that resolution at 60Hz yet. Not enough bandwidth. So, while a 4k TV is impressive for this price, in reality with only an HDMI input, you won't be able to take advantage of much of the 4k content to come out.
