Can anyone have any information about what partitioning / backup utilities are 4K sector compatible? From what I have tested (tested with the new windows WD align tool by Acronis):

Acronis Backup & Recovery 11345 - OK
Acronis Backup & Recovery 11345 Disk Director Lite - NOT
Acronis True Image 2010 7046 - OK
Drive Snapshot 1.40 - NOT
Macrium 2525 - NOT (restoring already aligned partition - OK)
Acronis Disk Director 10 - NOT
Acronis Disk Director 11 - no access, but said to be

BTW, any information on Paragon Alignment Tool? What exactly does that thing do?

Weird. I've read on these forums that Acronis True Image Home 2010 is 4K compatible / aware...

I have personally used Acronis 2010 within the past month and it is definitely 4k aware. Imaged my Crucial C300 after a firmware upgrade and put my games install directory onto a new RAID 0 array with alignment kept in place on both restores.

FWIW I'm using the latest build of Acronis 2010 with the Plus Pack installed. The latest version of Acronis 2010 just came out 1-2 months ago, so they might have updated to 4k aware at that time, which probably pre-dates some of the Acronis forum posts you may have read.

OK, I have tried the latest version of Acronis 2010 and it IS compatible. Aligns everything nicely at mod 2048!

Hmmm... There's a post on the Acronis forum from one of their employees saying that the latest build does not support 4k / is not 4k aware:

That thread is full of humor:

OP: I can't seem to get acronis to backup my drive...it has 4k sectors

Acronis: run chkdsk...maybe your OS is corrupted

OP: here's the resultant output file from chkdsk

Acronis: yep, you got corrupted files, I recommend you first backup the drive before proceeding...

OP: Uhhhh, but I can't seem to get acronis to backup my drive? ring-a-bell? helloooo?

Acronis: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........
