4k on 1080p TV vs native 1080p on same TV

I know there are many variables that can affect this but lets say you have a movie on BR in 4k and 1080p. Both are played on the same player to the same exact 1080p TV. Would the 4k not look better? Maybe not as dramatic as SD vs HD but enough of a difference to tell right?

The difference will be the whether the down rezzing from 4k to 1080p done by the player is better than same down rez done at the studio. Of course there's also bitrate. There's much more bitrate allowance at 4k than at 1080p and a lot of that bitrate is not always going to full 4k pixel 24 times a second. So the quality might be better.

In the end, you won't be able to tell sitting back at your couch.
