My new 4K monitor and video card (GTX 1080) both have HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4. I know they're competing standards, but is there any reason for choosing one over the other? Native is 3840x2160 at 60hz.
The monitor will only do a couple of custom resolutions on HDMI, should I assume DP wouldn't change that? Or is it worth giving it a go? Buying a DP cable is the only barrier to trying it out.
