4k issues with windows 7 and 10

im using a 4k Samsung TV as a monitor. it is truly amazing!
only 1 annoying issues: windows are reduced to 640 x 400 pixels every time i turn the monitor on.
it's annoying when i turn the monitor on and see all of my applications reduced to 640x400 and they are all squeezed to the upper left hand corner. desktop resolution is still 3840x2160.

i did search and it seems others have this issue too if they have multimonitor. i tried their solution but no luck so far.

I've been seriously considering going that route and getting a Samsung curved 4k tv to use as a monitor. Besides your issue with the resolution, how is it otherwise? Can you game on it without any lag or mouse issues? I play BF3, Titanfall and several other games and need my monitor to respond accordingly. TigerDirect has a cheap seiki 4k tv for $256 shipped that I am considering to get more apps on my dell ultrasharp screen so I can see them as my 27" is just too small to do it with even at 1200p. 1080 makes them swell up so large that even with a 46" screen on my tv I can't see them side by side so I'm weighing all of my options.

the model i have is a samsung js7000. there is no lag for normal tasks with 60hz. i dont game on PC so i dont know. the PS3 looks great on this tv though.

i wish the local best buy has the seiki for me to compare the samsung to. im not a picky person, so if the seiki looks good enough, i would got that instead and saved $400.

Since it is most likely that your Samsung "monitor" will not go to sleep like a normal computer monitor, you should turn off this option in your power settings. This is how I use my Seiki 39" 4K, turn off all monitor sleep options and use the TV remote to turn the thing on and off. No problem.

windows 7 never set to sleep nor hibernate. it is running 24/7 but applications still resize automatically.
samsung TV shows up as a generic PnP monitor. and theres no drivers from samsung....
