i have a 2160x1440 monitor. Not exactly 4K, but still looks gorgeous
2560x1600 here. Actually though, the 1080p version of that video looks pretty good too. I think the issue here is that video was a technology advertisement, so they have to make it look as good as possible, whereas a lot of streaming video or broadcast cable 1080i/1080p really looks quite mediocre. On my TV, I'd rather watch a high quality 480p DVD than pixelated and blocky broadcast 1080i. Luckily most broadcast 1080i these days is acceptable.
For some reason it felt like it was sharper than 1080p normally is. Maybe that's just my brain playing tricks on me.
Anyway, butterteeth.
Your eyes are not deceiving you. Most 1080p on YouTube kinda sucks. Plus the video was strongly lit, etc. It was designed to look good. Kinda reminds me of those Panasonic 1080p demo videos of women walking around etc.
1800p monitor.
Image quality was good, video was boring.
But the food looked awesome.
When i went from 1080p on a 24" to 1440p on a 27" i had to get used to the smaller text but it was still readable. I cannot fathom why people would but a 28" 4K monitor, it needs to be over 30" before i would consider purchasing.
Honestly, I don't like the font sizes of my 27" iMac. The font sizes would be the same on a 27" Retina iMac, so I still wouldn't like that, but at least the Retina you can use alternate resolutions and still have it look good.
The other problem though is that 27" iMacs with the bottom chin are too tall for my liking on the desk. That's why I'm considering going to a 21.5" Retina iMac in the future. Better default font sizing, and better ergonomics...
My favourite iMac size though was the 24". Perfect font sizes, and perfect ergonomics for me.
24.0" 1920x1200 = 94 ppi
21.5" 1920x1080 = 102 ppi
27.0" 2560x1600 = 112 ppi
A 24" 3840x2400 (189 ppi) Retina iMac would be glorious.
