Well my current setup just isn't cutting it anymore, time for a full platform upgrade.

Because I will be doing some encoding I am looking at x99 with the i7-5820k, however I am unsure of a decent x99 motherboard if anyone has suggestions.

Pairing it with either 16GB (4x4GB) or 32GB (4x8GB) of RAM. Leaning towards 32GB for "Muh future proofing"

Because pascal is on the horizon I am hesitant to invest in a GPU at the moment especially since my main games lately have been counter strike, rocket league, and Stardew valley. Not exactly the most graphically demanding. So i'm looking at the GTX 960 as it has x265 encoding and support for 3840x2160 @60hz. Then upgrading to pascal or polaris, whichever makes sense at the time.

The monitor I am looking at is the BenQ BL3201PH. 32" 3840x2160p IPS. I am fairly adamant on IPS, but if anyone has a cheaper suggestion i'd listen.

Corsair 750D case

Fully modular gold/platinum rated PSU

Samsung M.2 950 pro 256GB SSD

If anyone has suggestions or comments i'll take them into consideration. I'll be buying next week.

Well ended up with dual 2560x1440p instead of an ultrawide or 4k. But I saved ~$500 by going that route, so that will be used towards a GPU near the end of the year.

Pretty happy with what I have, all the games I play regularly run decently at 2560x1440 on a single GTX 960, but an upgrade will likely happen with Polaris/Pascal, unless they end up being VERY disappointing.
