Hi,

ok i recently bought an Gigabyte GA-MA69G-S3H Board with 4GB (4x 1GB) A-Data Vitesta Extreme DDR2-800- CPU is an A64 X2 6000+ (89W).
OS is Vista Home Premium 64

System installed fine with 4GB installed, at first I only used the onboard X1250 graphics, everything ran perfectly stable. Only when UAC screens popped up or I pressed CTRL+ALT+DEL to go to the task manager, some white horizontal bars showed up, but they disappeared as soon i was on Aero again. 3D in games was fine too, but every screenshot I took on my desktop also showed those white bars.

Well, now I got a Radeon X1950Pro 512MB (Powercolor AC2) and the System will run fine for about one minute, then I'll get massive screen corruption or a complete system freeze with about 5 minutes of extreme HDD activity.

I removed 2GB of Ram, everything runs fine. Installed Vista 4GB Patch, reinstalled 4GB, same problem. Then I used MSconfig to set max. RAM to 4096MB (Windows will only use 3329MB then) and everything runs absolutely fine. Ran Memtest for 8h, no problems. Ran Prime95 with hightest RAM Stress for 10h (X1950Pro removed), no errors at all (except the white bars with the onboard X1250).

Well, now I'm running with only 3329MB, contacted ATI, they told me to install Catalyst 7.7, did't help at all, no Catalyst did. Seems to be an memory adressing problem with the 690G chipset I guess.
Another Gigabyte Board with 690G has the same problems, I will contact Gigabyte, too.

BIOS of the board is latest F4A, right now I use Catalyst 7.10, problem persisted with every Catalyst tested (7.3 - 7.10).

So memory is running absolutely fine, only if some graphics adapter comes into play, everything screws up. Unfortunately I have no nvidia PCI-E card to use, so i might really blame the Catalyst drivers for this :)

Does anyone have another solution to this problem or is probably running the same config with an nvidia card?

Thx in advance
