I

I'm building a new Gigabyte system DS3L or G33M-S2 (on board graphics), with E6750 & X1950pro.

Don't need Raid, no SLI, 1 H/D & 1 optical drive, 4gb ram & I may have a try at a slight overclock in the near future
(with help from you lot, obviously ;O)

Q1: Are the DS3L or G33 the right boards to go for?
Q2: Any body recommend 4 gb ram that is stable & has no issues with these boards?

Was hoping one of you may be running 4 gigs on one of these & could advise me.

Don't need expensive stuff, just something solid that will work from the off.

I'll probably be buying from here........

G33-S2 is a m-ATX board so if thats what you need its a fine board. If you don't need a m-ATX mobo, go with the P35-DS3L or DS3R (for RAID and more HDs/Optical Drive in the future). No experience with 4gb RAM but I think there are number of people here that uses the P35-DS* with 4gb of ram, should be fine. Though you need to use XP x64 or Vista x64 to recognize the full 4gb RAM.

Q1: Depends on what your uses are, I don't see why you'd need an integrated graphics board if you are going to be using a X1950pro- I'd recommend the DS3R if you would like to go with Gigabyte but MSI and Abit have boards in that price range if not cheaper with essentially the same features.

Q2: It depends how much you would like to spend, as drextremeops007 said you will need a 64bit OS for all 4GB's of RAM to be detected and used otherwise with XP32 you'll have around 3gb. As for specific Ram any Micron based ram will be fine which can be found in Crucial, Gskill , Mushkin products to name a few- full list aviliable Here.

Abit IP35-E is a better board. It's good up to 500MHz FSB. Be sure to stick with quality JEDEC 1.8V DDR2 667 or 800 RAMs for best compatibility with four modules. The 333MHz modules will overclock to 400MHz (800) with 2.0V. Be sure to look for "N5" in the part number when you buy Kingston ValueRAM. Non-N5 are just okay.

Basic quality RAMs (1GB x 4 mode):
