Is it possible to have 4GB on an Inspiron e1505 - I have 2GB right now - but need to run virtual machines.

i am curious if anyone has actually been able to put more than 2GB in. Dell claims no - but i remember reading when I was buying it that it went to 4GB. Anyone try?

You could probably put 4GB in, but from what I've heard, the 945 mobile chipset has problems recognizing more than 3GB of RAM.

I have a dell e1705 and dell says the max is 2GB. I but 4GB in and it detects the maximum a 32bit os can with my hardware(3.25GB). Not sure if the E1505 can do the same but don't believe the Dell site.
Thanks,
Will

Supposedly you can put in two 2GB sticks and it'll "work", but the machine will physically recognize only the first 3GB and will not 'see' the last 1GB. This is not a result of the "32-bit 3GB limit" (which isn't really a 3GB limit anyway), but is a limitation of the E1505's chipset. Even with a 64-bit O/S you still won't be able to use more than 3GB.
