Hello,
I'm customizing a desktop and want to use 4gb of ram. From what i've read that is enough to let me play a lot of games. My question is, what games won't I be able to play. I think Crysis can be run on 2gb of ram so i'm a bit confused. By the way, i'm using a AMD Phenom™II X4 945 Quad-Core CPU and a ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB video card with a 500gb hard drive. Please let me know what common games like (Farcry 2, Modern Warfare 2, Starcraft 2, and at the far end Crysis), will be too much for me.
My thanks, Thomas

For gaming, 4GB is enough presently. More RAM is usually used by productivity apps or workstations under heavy loads; video editing, audio editing or composition, image creation or manipulation.

I can't really think of a specific gaming situation where 4GB would limit you; maybe in the coming years as MMOs become more graphically intense it could be appropriate because they tend to have many more textures to utilize simultaneously than other styles of games. I could see FFXIV maybe benefitting from more RAM at very high resolutions, but it's going to be a long time before someone tells you "You need 6/8GB of RAM to play game X."

Yeah, normally recommended these days is 1.5 for XP, and 2-2.5 on vista. I normally find myself using 3.5GB when playing crysis with an HD movie playing on the other screen. I have 2 1080p monitors so 4GB should not have an issue. Now that is not to say that an old Intel Celeron processor, 4GB ram, and a 3850 will play crysis. There are many other factors that go into performance.
