4GB DDR2 Good for 64Bit Windows 7 ?

Please help me!
I'm confused.
Should I upgrade to 64Bit Windows OS from 32Bit ?
Will I get performance decrease or increase(for following system only) if I switched to 64bit from 32bit ?
Will I get any significant performance boost in games,browsing,common daily life application etc. ?
Heard 64bit version of games or application need more CPU & RAM compare to 32bit.
Is is true or false or depend of selected games or application only ?

Current System:
Intel E4500
G41 Motherboard
2x2GB DDR2 800MHz RAM
ATI HD5670 512MB DDR5
500GB Seagate SATA HDD 7200.12
Display 1280x1024
Windows 7 32Bit OS

4GB is plenty for Windows 7. I am running 4gb Kingston DDR2 on my current system until I get the rest of my parts .

Actually recently I'm plying Skyrin with few mods.
Some says that for mod more RAM requred.
But,due to 32Bit OS I'm getting 3.25GB RAM instead 4GB.
If no performance gain then I think 32Bit Windows 7 SP1 OK for me.

That's the ram on your videocard. It only has 512mb apparently some mods can use +2Gb of videocard ram, so if you want skyrim to play better it's a videocard upgrade you need, or preferably the whole system

maybe amd 7750 or nVidia GTX 650

no, 32bit windows will only see that much ram regardless

but 64bit windows is (slightly) more memory intensive, so you won't really gain much of anything by doing the upgrade

yeah, but regarding skyrim and memory use then it's probably video card memory.

I have only 2 GB DDR2 with my old system and my Win 7 64 runs fine.

Well if he does video editing or run a DAW 4GB is not enough needs 8GB at least.
If only for games, you wont see a difference 4GB or 8GB

Grab a 8GB kit instead only couple dollars more. 4GB imo is not enough for Win 7 ...... especially if your doing tasks like 3d modeling or video rendering or audio rendering.. gl

I'm running 8GB of DDR3-1333 overclocked to 1600MHz. It is usually enough but if you leave your computer on 24\7 you'll want 16GB.

With 4bg you should just stick with the existing 32 bit installation.

My kids machines are of a similar spec, and have no trouble running Windows (one machine is 32-bit, while the other 2 are 64-bit). The main advantage of 64-bit is to allow the use of more RAM. Windows 32-bit can only use about 3.25GB of RAM, while 64-bit would use all 4GB of your RAM. However it's not worth it unless you upgrade your entire system, as DDR2 RAM is a bit expensive. So just stick with 32-bit windows for now.

I am a tab freak in internet explorer. I have 8GB but really need 16GB to work well. 4GB will work for 2 days then I am into the pagefile. I only have 58MB free right now with 21 tabs open in IEX, and 9 tabs open in Firefox.

Completely depends on how you use the machine. Trying checking task manager and view RAM usage while having Skyrim running.. If you find that your resources are holding you back, then maybe it's time to upgrade the OS and your hardware.
