4GB and Windows XP

I'm quite happy with my 939 system, but I have a few extra bucks laying around so I am thinking about starting to piece together a new system. I was browsing Newegg, looking at DDR2 memory. 2GB kits of DDR2800 are quite cheap, but 4GB kits aren't all that expensive either. For the time being I'm running XP and probably will do so for the immediate future. My video card has 512MB of memory, I'm quite happy with it so I'm going to keep it for the next rig. Other then XP not using all 4GB, will there be any other issues? Will there be any stability issues having more memory then the OS can address? I figure that even if the system only uses 3+GB that's better then 2GB. My other option is get 2GB now and add 2GB later. The system will be general purpose and gaming. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I've experienced no problems w/ 8GB installed. Thats my single data point.
"even if the system only uses 3+GB that's better then 2GB."
Thats how I see it.
