MS have shown DX12 advancements at GDC. Including Shader Model 6.0 and more. The fabled half precision is also coming (GCN 1.2/GCN 1.3/Pascal/Broadwell/Skylake only).

This optimization for warp scheduling could potentially help Kepler quite a bit.

Yes, but SM6 is scheduled for when? Then add a few years after that for games to be released, it won't matter to Kepler in a few years. 😉

But it is good that they allow the flexibility so devs can multi-optimize for different uarchs easier.
