Hey fellas,
I recently upgraded to an Epox 4g4a+ motherboard, and one thing is really stumping me...IRQ's.
To the point, I see nothing akin to a "reserve IRQ for VGA" or similar. I recently received a review board from nVidia, and the moment I swapped out my other GF4, I was unable to install the drivers...the goold ole' Code 10 in XP.
Immediatley, I did what I should have done before...get rid of ACPI. After doing that, I still couldn't get the drivers to install. Next, I went into the BIOS, and went to manually set the AGP IRQ. I tried to set it to IRQ 11, but it was conflicting with the Intel USB controller. Next, I ended up switching it to IRQ 7.
The interesting thing is that I could, indeed, load the drivers correctly; however, I'm still seeing an IRQ shared between the GF4 and the USB controller...the only difference is the fact that it's the only other resource to share that IRQ with the GF4. Incidentally, despite reserving IRQ 7 in the BIOS, WinXP actually indicates that IRQ 9 is being used.
Anyhow, I'm a little bit stumped on this issue...I was having problems using the WDM drivers that nVidia supplied for the review unit, and wanted to ensure that the card wasn't sharing any IRQ's before I log a report with them.
Having said all of that...What are some of you 4g4a+ users doing as far as resource settings are concerned? The only other card I have installed on this motherboard @ the momeny is my SB Live 5.1...
Any input would be greatly appreciated...
On a sidenote, I think you guys will like some of the Det. driver optimizations that are forthcoming...
