4G LTE Bay Area

I know that 4G LTE for Verizon is coming next month to the bay area. But will all people just automatically be put on that speed? I have a smart phone htc incredible. I'm just not sure if you have to buy a new phone for 4g to work..

Yes, you will need new hardware and Sprint forces you to pay an additional $10 a month for their increased speed (I.e. EVO 4G) ...what will Verizon do?

lets hope verizon does something special like offers an early upgrade for smart phone users. they do that sort of thing.

they have really ramped up the 4g advertising here in the bay area with ads in all the verizon store windows and tv ads. in one of the ads they have a guy who lives in the country going to his mailbox to get his new 4g phone. i wonder if that means the 4g range outside major cities will be greater than expected
