LTE is 700mhz Wi-Max is 2.5ghz. Higher the frequancey the crappier the building penetration right?
So Verizon should be getting better building penetration by LTE vs 3g 1900mhz
so LTE has double the building penetration then 3g.
But he said LTE was backwords compatible with 3g so that the signal that verizon would be brodcasting is the 700mhz 4g signal which would work with 3g. But now that I see that they operate on diffrent frequencies thats not possible
So, from what I see unless I have a 4g phone, I wont even get better signal in my home.
more over, Normal voice calls seems to use 800mhz so, I definitely wont see an improvement right?
Here's a few things:
1) Although in building penetration may be better at that frequency, there is no guarantee that the downtilt on the antennas at the site will indicate improved coverage.
2) As other said, no idea when 4g rollout will be.
3) LTE won't carry voice calls until release 9, when it will be E-911 compliant
4) "Backwards Compatibility" - actually a phone feature where it supports all 3: CDMA2000, 1X-EVDO and LTE. They may develop and extender, but it's highly doubtful.
So yes, an LTE extender (if one even existed) wouldn't help with your voice call problems. Have you called Customer Service about your loss of coverage?
