49ers Season

Ok, I've been a Niner fan my whole life, and this is basically the first time in my life they've been horrible (should indicate my age). I know I've been spoiled because of this, but I'm no fair weather fan and still support them. Anyways, anyone here think they can salvage this season, or is it lost and we look forward to a high draft pick? Clearly we're not a good team, but do you think we can at least get respect? Our schedule isn't too hard, and we've been in a lot of games. We're three bad plays away from being 4-2 instead of 1-5. Of course, we're one absurd comeback from being the only winless team. Anyways, any thoughts? Also, assuming we have a high draft pick, who should we draft/what position should we focus on?

I hate the niners but I don't think they'll be bad next year. This year is looking like a 4-12 type year. But they have a QB who is learning in Rattay and a young group of WR who seem to be picking it up a little. They have a good catching TE and they have Barlow who can be good but doesn't get touches b/c the team is always behind. They lost their defensive stud in Julian Peterson. I think this year is done for but give them 2 years and they'll be back towards the top....man I hate them.

i think the niners win this week.
dont know why, i just do.

I think anybody who faces Jonathan Quinn or Craig Kenzel as the opposting QB has a GREAT shot at winning the game.

die hard niner fan here too and its tough watching them play. it's like you automatically go into a game expecting them to stink it up. At first I thought ken Dorsey was the answer, and he got his shot after Rattay got injured, but then promptly proceeded to put up a big fat '0' against Seattle, first SF shutout in ages.

I'm not too sure if they can salvage the season. They'll be very lucky to stay in single digit losses. 5-11 is a realistic outlook.

Eric Johnson has been the only bright spot this year. Good to see him playing well after being injured all last year.

I'm not sold on Kevan Barlow. I think his inflated yards per carry average from a year ago might come from the fact that Jeff Garcia and Terrell Owens were leading the passing attack, causing big holes in the rushing game.

Our best defender and All-Pro, Julian Peterson, started out great this year but he's already done for the season with a torn ACL.

But we've got a bunch of young players on both sides of the ball, and this is Rattay's first year of fully starting. Jeff Garcia suffered a horrible season after steve young got injured, but he turned out well. The best thing to do right now is just be patient and keep supporting them.

How can you hate the Niners? Is it because they were a dynasty for so long, kinda like the Yankees? That's understandable I guess. Or if you're a STL, DAL, or GNB fan, then you just suck.

Anyways, I think the Niners need to focus on their lines, both of them. They are both garbage and I think that's why we're so bad. If you have a good line, everything else can fall in place much easier. Hopefully they'll address that this offseason. BTW, anybody see the article in the San Jose Mercury News about how the Niners are trying to emulate Billy Beane and Moneyball? All I could think was, "Yeah, but Billy Beane is smart, you guys are morons." Plus, football stats don't weigh as heavily on outcomes as baseball stats do. Oh well, we'll see

this year's a straight-up bust. their stud rb's a bust so far...the TE outproduces the WRs, and Rattay's the next coming of Chris Chandelier. Worse of all, Slumlord York's laughing all the way to the friggin bank.
