I've been waiting for this day, since Steve Young retired !! I never liked Garcia...he never took the team anywhere.
And now that T.O. is coming back, we can finally throw the ball down field, farther than 20 yards :D

This has been one crappy day....
Not only did they release Garcia, but they also released Ron Stone, Garrison Hearst, Derrick Deese, and a couple others.
Man are they gonna suck ass next year... I thought '03 was bad, but why does '04 have to look 10x worse?
Oh, and concerning TO: Donahue just stated that TO has been given permission to seek a trade, so perhaps something positive can still come out of this, although I doubt anyone in the league wants to be bogged down with his salary...
John York sucks ass. We want Eddie D back!!!!

They are still trying to work a deal that would allow TO to be an unrestricted free agent. The plan on the table would give a 33rd First round draft pick to San Fran. Not likely to happen, but they are still trying to come up with a deal with the NFL & San Fran.

The Bay Area has two horrible NFL owners (Al Davis and Denise DeBartolo York). Sad really. I really miss Eddie.

P.S. Woohoo. Good ridence to Jeff Garcia. He actually thought he was worth 10 million dollars a year? LOL.

People would want to trade for TO now b/c they WOULDN'T be bogged down with his salary. The reason this TO deal is such a mess is that he wanted free agency which would have brought in big payday. He didn't file in time or something like that and now he's locked in at what he considers to be far below market value. He's a bargain at his current contract. I hate the 49ers so I'm not sure if I want TO to stay or go yet. They are better off in the long run without Garcia.....too bad for the local boy though, he played hard all the time at least.

If you think that <insert any other QB here> would've taken the 49'ers farther, then (imho) you are mistaken.

Garcia was and is an old man though, and without T.O. I really don't think he would have done as well for himself as he has.

I think Garcia is a good QB, but he completely lacks any and all star apeal.

QB's become stars when they have a dominating offensive line, and excellent running game, and more than one star receiver.

Technically whomever. Who is used when as a subject, and whom as an object (direct or indirect).

To check when you should use each, try replacing with he/she (who) or him/her (whom).

TO is leaving. They let Garcia and Hearst go.

So now they have a set of cr@ppy recievers, an inexperienced QB w/ Rattay, and Barlow who I see as a good back, but by no means a great one.

Oh well, Go Packers! It's a shame I can't see the Packers knocked the 49ers out of the playoffs anymore.

Niners are scared for a couple of years while they try to get their draft picks to perform :(
they messed up by getting rid of Mariucci
they should have traded TO instead
i hope they trade him at least we will get a first round draft pick or more

oh well GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i gotta stick to the Niners..,.. they can work through it.

i wished the Niners could have gotten something out of Garcia but they didn't. I hope they get something out of TO.

i plans for the next season for the niners ..

Offense
Rattay developing as good QB with poise. Ability to work under pressure and prove he can succeed as a starting QB.
Ken Dorsey getting some snaps

Barlow - cut down on the fumbling. better pass protection. 1200+ yards rushing 1500 all purpose yards.
Beasley - pro bowl. just play hard.

Johnson - be healthy and play hard.
Lloyd - surprise people and make it big

offensive line - stay healthy and protect

defense

hope the defense continues to play hard. dunno what's gonna happen now that MOra jr. left.

I second the motion to bring Eddie D back to San Fran. He's served his sentence.
It would be better for the NFL, as well as the 9ers, if Eddie returned. He was a great owner !!!

As for Garcia, he couldn't throw over 20 yards, so any defense could defend the pass against us.

Holy crap. Are niner fans really this myopic  Well, I can't wait to see how much you all b!tch when Ratay is running the offense full time.
We'll see. The biggest part of your problem is that your coach is a fvcking idiot.

Btw, can any of you guess who holds the niner's single season passing record? I'll give you a hint. It's not Montana and it's not Young.

Woohoo time for Barlow to shine... I don't know about this guy Rattay though. WhoTF is he ?!

I haven't followed the Niners too closely since Young retired.

Funny, I don't seem to recall Dan Marino or John Elway having more than one star receiver (or even one for that matter). Brett Favre has done well for the past couple years without any star receivers. I could keep going, if you like ;)

I don't have much faith in Ratay, he's a young, inexperienced QB, after all. Last season he showed quite a bit of promise though, so he's definitely not hopeless.
Erickson is a fvcktard, plain and simple. That was one of the worst coaching changes in recent memory...
We're all well aware of the fact that Garcia holds the Niners single season passing record ;) I happen to like Garcia and will be sad to see him go, but not for the amount of money he wanted.
