You'll be spending $350 on a new CPU platform and let's say $400-650 on a new GPU. When taking into account the total parts upgrade cost, might as well get the newest architecture Skylake or go Broadwell E 6-core and overclock. Besides, we don't know the exact launch date or price of Oculus. Chances are Oculus will cost above $400. So if you start adding new platform + new GPU + Oculus kit, it will hardly make sense to save $100-150 when you will be spending more than a grand for an optimal Oculus experience. Since your CPU platform has close to bottomed out in resale value anyway, there isn't much disincentive to keep waiting until Oculus launches and evaluate a new platform upgrade. For instance, if Oculus launches Q4 2016, MicroCenter may have 6700K for $250-280 because it'll be superceded by KabyLake.
