When my video card goes into suspend/standby mode after about 15mins I cant get it to go back to windows. I move my mouse around to kick it back on but it does nothing so I have to reset my PC. Anyway know what the problem is or know how I can turn it off?

I've never had a computer that does standby correctly.. Currently on a Via MVP3 based K6-3.

What are your system's specs? The Duron@1050?

Goto advanced properties of my computer's adavanced power mangement and focrce 1.0 mode or something like that. Sorry i run win2k so i don't remeber exaclty how to do it but this worked for me.

hanpan I dont have that option I dont think if so then I dont know where it is. As for my Duron@1050 I got it clocked at 900 right now decided to lower it and aint updated my rig profile.

Anyway I have a intelli mouse optical,Duron@900 9x100,128mb micron PC133@PC100@2/2/2,Asus A7V mobo,Asus V6800 Pure Geforce 32mb DDR.

It didnt do this till I reinstalled windows 98SE.

To disable standby, it's in the display properties, in the screen saver tab. Least that's one way of getting there.

thanks Pederv thats where I needed to go. I am sure thats where hanpan was talking about he just didnt remember how to get there.

I am a little confused is suspend and standby the same thing? If not what does standby do? I turn my monitor off when I aint on my PC is that what it does?

NO. I did not want you to disable suspend. ON a lot of motherboards forcing 1.0 mode under adavanced properties of advanced power mamgement in win98 will stop your computer from locking. Tomorrow i will goto a buddy's house who has win98 and give you detailed intructions.

I generally set my hard disks and monitor to doze after 15 min. of non use since I'm too lazy to completely boot up again all the time. If you shut the monitor off when not in use why not just set the hard disk to standby after a certain time.. Ive never had any problems with that.. hope you get it workin!
