$49 for 2.1Ghz?!!!! How high can you get your 1700+???

About a week ago I got a 1700+ tbred (not sure if its A or B) I had it running at 1826Mhz and I was happy with that result. I just downloaded the newest Bios for my A7N8X Deluxe and OH MY GOD!

168X12.5 @1.75V =
b]2102Mhz!!![/b]

I'm running a 512MB stick of Samsung PC2700. I feel the ram can handle 180FSB at least (I've had it that high so far) so when I have more time tonight I'll play around with lower Multipliers and higher FSB but Im still GIDDY with excitement! I ran PRIME95 all night at 2Ghz (167X12) without a single flaw with a cpu temp of 34C full load. So now I'm doing it at 2.1Ghz.

I never knew these little chips would go THAT far. Thats 636Mhz OC.

I did a SuperPI in 53 Seconds JUST befor I left for work (damn work interferes with my OC!) I hope I get no errors on Prime95 today.

How high are your 1700+'s running? I HAVE to know how much left I have in this chip. I didnt expect such a good OC, I didnt even pay attention to the stepping when I put it in. I was just like "tbred, cool." next time I clean my SLK800 I'll HAVE to check!

I have two that hit 2100MHz at 1.775-1.80v. Too bad Intel can't lower the price of the 1.8A to compete. The budget overclocking segment is owned by AMD.

My JIUHB 0302 is sitting here at 2049.5 at 1.63V. I've had it over 2.1, but this is plenty fast and stable for me. It'll Prime for days at this speed....Temps stay under 40C no matter what I do...

I'm a happy camper!

I am very impressed and very happy for you. AMD rocks and I am very thankful to AMD for the competition with Intel. I was able to push my 1.4 GHz XP to 1.7 GHz but this is just unbelievable.

WHy dont we all stop buying cheapo XP1700/XP2100's and get ourselves barton XP3000's so we can really help AMD out! (cheapo cpu's dont really help them out 🙂)

Well, Look at it this way, I upgrade processors every 3-8 months easy, I went from AXIA's to AGOIA's and now the Tbred B's, I've personally purchased 3 AMD cpus for MY OWN usage in the last 1.5 years. I believe this is slightly/if not greatly above average.

Sure AMD isnt getting the premium price they would earn on a more expensive chip. But if I did buy a XP3000+ I wouldnt be upgrading for quite sometime. AND the VAST majority of all computer users are in the mid-level to budget, catagory. Like most of us I'm sure (anand's crowd is one of the wealthiest I know!) as time goes on the overclocking crowd grows larger and larger. And due to simple economics the majority of these new megahertz lusting oc newbies are NOT wealthy with swiss bank accounts therefor these super sweet amd chips that overclock madly, puts strong performance in the hands of more people. I find that VERY attractive, and it looks like amd has aswell. I think overclocking friendliness helps amd more then hurts. I LOVE amd because of these processors and as long as I can take a sub $70 processor this close to the bleeding edge for amd OR intel I will be buying MANY more of them to come.

And guess what happens to my old chips? they go into computers I sell to friends thus further stretching the amd empire. AND chances are they will opt for cpu upgrades vs switching mobo and processors. Its almost like a personal economy that is self perpetuating. and any way you look at it, it selling ALOT of units for amd.

My 1700+/B will "only" do 1.9gig. It might go 20-30MHz higher, but 2.0gig is a definite Windows error no-go. so I just leave it at 1.9gig and put up with a "measly" 430MHz overclock. Still not bad for a CPU I bought used for $45.

Well, my 1700+A is running smooth at 1840. Seems to be on the high side for an A chip, so I'm happy. I didn't have the option of waiting for the B's to come out.

I'm also limited by my max of 1.6 (1.58 real) volts on my MSI KT333 board, and my cheap ass OEM HSF. Not into hard modding, and 1840 is plenty.

Those are still really strong overclocks. I'm sure 1.8-1.9ghz will hold you easy untill the next gen stuff entices you! I just got REALLY lucky, I didnt know the B's were out either when I got mine, I got it from newegg also!

luck it is

#1 1700+ : 1950
#2 1700+ : 2170
#3 1700+ : 2300

😀 😀 😀

12.5 x 184 @ 1.85V

The voltage is a lil high for me... i might just back it down to 2.2 @ 1.7V but i want to run it at 11 x 200 but ram can't handle it..

btw, the samsung pc2700 can do 185 easy 🙂 i had two sticks they did 185 great! 2.5-3-3-7

2.3ghz! THAT IS INSANE!

I HOPE my chips got that much in it!!! I have good cooling, SLK800 with a 40CFM sunon on it. when I had it oc'd using 1.7V my cpu temp rarely went above 31C, with my chip at 2.1ghz now after 7 hours of Prime95 I was at 34C (per asus probe) I think I have some more headroom on the temps. but can the chip do it? tonight I will know!

I also have an "A" chip. That one will do up to 1.95 (unstable), but will cruise at 1.92 stable forever....it passed 24 hourrs of Prime at that speed. It's gonna go into a backup system I'm building.

you just took the words outta my mouth.. exact same for me.. i have ARIGA0250.. just got it today.. so disappointed i didn't get a rev B 🙁

right now i have it running @ 9.5x200
i think the FSB is screwing up my nforce2 northbridge(i have abit nf7-s rev 1.1), my window freezes for a while but my mouse still moves, and a few seconds later, my screen refreshes itself, and everything is back to normal.. this happens like once every 2 minutes or so.. 🙁

hey, we should make a "i got my tbred 1700+ above 2.3 ghz" club 🙂 🙂

i think there'd be three us rommel:

you, me, and adelacru(2.41 ghz)....

🙂

It looks like I'm stuck at 2.1Ghz 12.5X168FSB I REALLY think its my ram holding me back. This samsung is decent ram but soon as i push the FSB much more it gives me errors running prime95, I dont want errors running prime!

try upping your vdimm voltage up to 2.7ish if possible...

the sammy ram should do fine above 168... some people are running it at 200.... i ran mine at 180-184 with no problems...

Don't think it helps our wallets out either...:Q

I guess I'm too cheap to buy a big dollar AMD cpu to help out. But in the last two years I have bought about 20 cheapo AMD cpu's, that must help some!

well I've got mine at 1916, but seeing what you guys are up to I just might try to push it a little more!

I think I need better cooling though, mine runs at about 45 degrees.
