48X CDWriter Problem

Werty

Senior member
i have a cdwriter which is running perfectly fine, records fine. suddenly for some reason it wont write anymore. what happens is that the cdwriter is still able to read from any cds, & can even read-write-erase rewritable cds, but when recording into any CDR blanks, even if nero reports a succesful burn, the cdr still appears as BLANK. so nothing was written inspite having a succesful burn message.i was wondering why it can read-write&erase cdrw, but isnt able to write into cdr?

any help would be helpful....

thanks

1. have you tried another brand of CDR?
2. have you tried another burning program or if you have Windows XP, tried their built in buring software
3. tried this burner on a buddy's PC

btw, the brand is ARTEC 48x12x48... tried different blanks coz i first thought it might just be compatibility but still the same... also tried other burning softwares still nothing. but i was just wondering why it can write on cdrw but not cdr? what could be the problem....?

My GF has the Artec 48x12x48 and it exhibited the same problem. I called Artec and they sent a replacement, which has worked fine since. I think it's a common problem for Artec drives, as they seemed to already know about it when I told them. You might want to check to see if your drive is still in warranty. If not, just get a new one. Artec is a cheap brand anyways.
