4890 prices seem to be climbing

I would have expected them to go down, but maybe since the 5850s are high and the 5770s underperform the 4890s are now on the rise?

Count your blessings video cards haven't shot up in price like RAM has. A DDR3 kit goes for more than double what I paid for it back in September.

We're in a video card drought. Even the 4670s, available for $45 not long ago are now at the $70 level. A $100 GTS250 is thought to be a good deal. So it's only natural the current bang/buck champ gets pricier as well.

The good deals on the 4xxx cards came a month or two before the release of the 5xxx series. What with the trouble at the fab, the perhaps premature eol-ing of the previous line, Apple buying up all the leftover 4850 chipsets, this has left a supply vacuum, so the present prices are a-rising.
