running on windows xp 64 bit
tried running 3dmark 06 scored 12.5 k
same score as when i had my 9800GTX+

wuts the average score for this card and what could some problems be?

3DMark06 is so CPU bound, when I upgraded from the X800XT AGP to the X1950XT AGP, my score didn't increase at all. But when I ditched the Pentium 4 EE with the Pentium M, my score increased considerably, to the point that when I moved to the HD 3850 AGP later, I almost reached 10K. And look today, with my Quad Core and a HD 4870, I only score around 17.5K, which is far from the theorical power difference between both setups.

so wut would be a better way to
i7 920 + new mobo + ram

or a q9650 3.0ghz quad core ,

and would it actually improve my overall performance

i oced the card from 875 mghz core to 900mghz and i put the fan speed at 50%
now it worked fine in 3dmark and wow so far
but when i tried playing hawx . after about 2-3 min i gota pink/red ish screen and had to restart
could it be overheating?
i set the fan to auto speed now

What are you trying to achieve here?

Just higher benchmark scores? Or playable framerates in games at some (unspecified) res/detail setting?

3DMark06 is not a good utility for measuring overall gaming performance. The best "benchmarks" are for you to actually play the games and take note of any changes. You should see about a 40-50% performance improvement (can vary even more depending on the game and settings used).

well now the main problem is that i am having certain games crash like i get either a black screen or a pink/redish screen after that i have to restart my pc
i oced my card from 875/975 to 900/1000 fan speed is on auto

when i play games like crysis/ut3/css/dod source all those games have crashed within a few minutes of play time
cod waw did the same but now it working ok havent played it enough

So basically your OC is unstable. This is not the board partner's issue.

i updated from cat 9.5 to 9.7 drivers and i didnt touch the overdrive option

so far i could play 2 of the games without crashing dod source and crysis both for over 20 minutes
