4890 CF vs 5850 vs 5870?

Would you say these ATI glitches are more exclusive to the latest hardware, or am I fucked with the 4890 as well?

Maybe it's just the games I play (most new...some old) but I haven't run into any major bugs lately with my 4870. Of course I didn't play Re5 or Clear Sky. My latest was Red Faction Guerrilla and that ran fine except for the messed up sound which was a game problem.

You guys are scarring the crap of the OP about all these choices. At the end of the day the difference in gameplay between 5850 and 4890 is nowhere near "night and day":

Considering you can get a 4890 for $170:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-438-_-Product, while a 5850 hovers in the $300+ range. There is no way anyone can argue that 5850 is "good value" considering it is maybe 25-30% faster, sometimes less, for almost 2x the price. By the time DX11 games are in full swing, you can just sell the 4890 for $75 and pick up a 5870 for $150, etc.

For instance, GTX 280 was $600+ when it was released in the summer of 2008. In the summer of 2009 you then had GTX 275/4890 for $200 and it offered the same performance.

It is almost guaranteed that in 12 months, a $200 videocard will deliver similar performance of a $400 videocard today.

Also, Crysis is such a poorly coded game, not even 5870 will run it smoothly with everything maxed out, honestly.

Hey Russian, you know I still haven't decided on an aftermarket HSF, I'm going to have to whip out my G11 and map all those different coolers to the shortcut buttons so I can search all of them quickly on all of those sites to buy them on, to compare prices and performance.

The reason I say that is, it's ironic you would tell people that they're scaring me with all these choices, when I'll have to choose through an even larger amount of heatsinks and fans next, haha.

Anyway no worries, I went with the 4890.

I remember the long discussions on heatsinks. All of the ones in those threads will easily let you do 4.0-4.2ghz on the 920 D0. However, there is a new heatsink that has emerged above all the rest recently:

I agree i bought my 8800Gt when they first hit the market and you could not find them in stock i paid $300 for it now look at it on the performance chart, i will never pay full price again buy last years card and save $ personally i would get the 4890 when it drops to $150

I got the 4890 for less than $150.

Anyway, I too bought the 8800GT for $300 back when it was released, was my first build ever and it did well for me actually. I suppose it cost a bit much, but still, shit rocked.

Russian, I pmed you about the coolers, I figure the Video Cards and Graphics board is the wrong place for that.
