Techtree

I've run a few searches over the last week and this is the gist. Not sure how much stock to put into these two but supposedly the launch is only a month away. I would think there should be more info coming out about the card in the next couple of weeks. Does anybody have any more reputable sites with info?

This is a repost, so I'm locking it:

This thread was going with speculation already.

Hadn't seen the Techtree article. Some articles say that it's a speed bump, some say a new chip. I'm hoping it's a new chip more than a speed bump, I think 'turning on' the redundant parts that are there for yield purposes would really add some performance. And they're already there, no R&D, so it makes sense.

I don't know if the 4890 is real or not. AMD is launching 40nm chips soon, but in the low-mid range segments. It would make sense to release a higher clocked 48x0 part as it wouldn't really cost them anything and allow them to make more profit as opposed to pushing the R800 chips out. With the market down turn and the 4xx0 parts dirt cheap as it is, I can't see people running out to buy a $300 5870 when a 4870 is around 150 and plays all their games fine.
