4870 X2 Watercooling question

Hey everyone,

I want to watercool my Sapphire HD 4870 X2, the fan is way to loud and the card gets hot. Problem is that the waterblock I'm thinking of getting will fit the 4870 X2 reference card. So my question to you guys is how do I determine if my card is based on the reference card or not?

Thanks for the help!!

There are several that will fit a 4870 X2:

Swiftech block:

Koolance block:
http://www.koolance.com/product_archive/product_info.php?product_id=731
(this is discontinued, but you may be able to get it secondhand)

Dangerden block:

EK blocks:

XSPC Razor block:

Bitspower block:

Edit: Sorry, I misread the OP.

As footballrunner800 said, post the product ref for your card and the water block you are proposing to use.

Thanks footballrunner800 & daw123 for the fast replies!!

The number on the card's bar code label found on the backplate is - PN 102-B50902-01-AT

The number on the top cover and fan is - P/N 7120170000G

The number on the board itself, found directly above the fan and in between the two power connections is - 109-B50937-00

Also I'm looking at getting the Bitspower waterblock from Performance-PCS.

Thanks again for the help!!!

Really appreciate your extra effort by posting my question on the AMD/ATI forum. Hopefully they have an answer!

Just an FYI

I got an email from Sapphire support today. They said all Sapphire 4870 X2 are reference boards. My question has been answered.

Thanks again for the help!!
