I am looking for a PSU for building a rig with 4870 X2 as the primary display. Trouble I am getting is information from all fronts tell different things about the PSU Watts requirement for this card.

Let's say, using ATi's official specification, 650W is the minimum requirement for the 2 power connections to the PSU. If I find a PSU which provides 2 x 12V rails and 680W combined voltages, by calculating the amps going through each rail yields 28.3A. Would 28.3A satisfy this power hungry card and games run smoothly with this many amps streaming through these rails to the card??

Moved to PSU forum.

What PSU are you looking at? You can't simply divide 680 by 12 to get the amps; the PSU also provides 3.3V and 5V power. And not all 680W PSU's are actually 680 watts.

You should go to the AMD/ATI site and get the information directly from them. Then, you can check into power supply specifications and shop from the manufacturers you are considering.
