I grabbed a couple XFX 4870 1GB's for $140 each w/free shipping. Plenty of power to get me by until next gen. Sweet looking cards with black pcb's. Everyone's excited about 4890's, but damn what about 4870's for under $150? Nice cards!

I know...damn it I paid CAD$295 for my 4870 1GB back in January...6 months later and it's half of that now. I wish I could do XFire but with my tiny case being watercooled and with a soundcard there's no room for another graphics card.

NICE price! I just picked up a 4850 for $129 on Newegg. I would have paid 11 more to get the 4870. Oh well, it's still a huge upgrade over my 8600GT. I will agree on the sweet look, and the box was even nice, XFX makes a quality product

Hmmm....4850s have been < $100 AMIR, and 4890s have been ~ $150-180 AMIR.

I wish I had the patience for the slick deals stuff. The whole cashback/registering/waiting/hunting thing drives me nuts.

I plan to sit on these two cards through DX 11 flagship releases and see how it pans out. I'm gonna keep one for a family build and sell the other.

Oh if anyone's hunting the XFX models, be advised there's a new cooler on their 4870's. IMO the original cooler is better. A few folks with both tend to agree.

The original cooler

The newer cooler

A google (shopping) search for HD487AZHFC will reveal e-wiz unadvertised price of $144. $20 off $250 or more on front page..

Won't your tri-285s "get you by" a lot better?

And damn, prices are dropping like crazy. I paid $140 for my 4850 a couple months ago.

it is good except for us that are selling our cards :p

and although i have a q9550s intel PC with TriFire, i am building an AMD "budget" gamer

New AMD build - *budget* high performance gamer for 19x12

it's a little "project" unlocking a $80 dual core Phenom II into an x550x4 Quad core and getting it as close to 4 GHz as possible

. . . to get me by
with a 4870-X2 at 19x12
