I only did a quick skim of the 4850X2 reviews and didn't see the two compared. Running 4850 1gis in crossfire seems to make more sense because the cards are the same price or cheaper and if one dies you still have video.

You should basically get the same performance but on the other hand....
Think about the simplicity of having one card, one heat source, and a free slot to upgrade to CrossFireX (with a 4850 1GB) or CrossFire (with another 4850 X2).

Running a single video card is a "risk" that a LOT of people take. LOL. If it dies, you'll be force to buy a new one anyway. Not an issue in my opinion.

I think what he is trying to say is that it would be preferable to have 2 4850's versus 1 4850x2. If one 4850 in the CF dies, you have another, compared to the X2 dying and taking "two cards" down.

I like the individual cards myself, but a lot of people on here like the X2's (Nvidia and AMD).

I understand that.

The point I was trying to make is that the majority of people only have 1 card anyway. So then, it doesn't really matter that much anyway.

Yeah, in my case an X2 is the only option. Man, a 4850x2 would be a beast. Too bad I don't need that level of performance, since I very rarely play games. Even a 4850 is overkill for me.
