When is the 4850-X2 coming out and what price? Is there really an X3 coming out? Is Nvidia updating their line this fall with 55nm? When exactly?

Merci buckets,

Frankly, why do you care? I doubt it makes much sense to get 4850x2. You should probably either go for a single 4870 (no need to worry about xfire scaling) or just step up to a 4870x2 (much better performance). I doubt it's gonna come out at a decent price that makes it a sensible buy.

i was personally thinking of buying a 4850x2 along with a p45 chipset mobo.

but katank you are suggesting that a 4870 is a better choice?

How does 1 4850 compare to 1 8800GT? If it's worth it I'd go with a 4850 X2 since I have a SLI system.:)

A 4850 is a fair bit faster then a 8800gt. I don't see whats wrong with the HD4850X2, if it also has 1gb of memory it might be nice competition for a gtx280, depending on the price.

nvidia was supposed to release the 55nm G200 10 days after the 4870x2.. which would be the 22nd or 24th, I forgot, but it got delayed, today is the 29th, and still no word on when it is arriving.

I never heard of the X3, and I don't know about the 4850

That's what I have been seeing too, but if you can get a pair of 4850's for $300 then why bother? Perhaps that's why we are not seeing them on the market yet?

Ya ya, I know you can do a pair of them or x3 or whatever, but the small number of users that will do that are not going to purchase enough cards to justify production....

Any word on release date?

I don't think anyone is disputing that the card will be fast. BUT is it worth $100, 33%, more than a pair of 4850's in crossfire?

I wouldn't mind having a Radeon 4850 X2 so I can run it in xfire mode with my current 4850 and not have to worry about scaling problems.

Then I can pop the spare 4850 into my secondary pc :D and be running triple xfire with my main pc.

And that's about the only compelling reason to pay $400 for $280 worth of video cards..

They look at it this way, it's a single card solution that beats GTX 280, performance justifying cost. It will sell, but it's price point has to be competitive with GTX 280's price point.

nV can't do much more with that 280 price, not unless they have a trick up their sleeve. ATI has a lot of room to operate in. Should be interesting..
