Please give us all the specs of your system.
Cpu,ram,hard drives ect. ect. ect.

If its a standard system with one hard drive ,one dvd burner, and such you'll be fine.

I have 2, 18 amp rails (total 34 amps) with my Enermax, and I run a gtx 260 overclocked and core duo overclocked, 2 hard drives,7 case fans,4 usb ports,.

E6300 @ 1.86GHz [mobo doesn't allow OC]
Intel DG965WH mobo
Western Digital Sata HDD
DVD burner
4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800Mhz memory

That is all.

It could handle a gtx 260 if you wanted.

Yeah but could the case?

3.4GHz E5200, 4 or 5 HDDs, optical, 4GB RAM, HD4850, 400w PSU, pulls <250w from the wall under load.
You might even be able to get away with a (good quality) 300w PSU if you were really feeling like a challenge :p

I checked out that link, but I'm not sure I understand. What exactly is that socket mod for?

You basically use tape and window defogger repair kit (or a electrical trace pen) to connect those two bridges on the bottom of your CPU. The mother board will then detect the chip at the higher FSB giving you an overclock.

Yes ice it is dangerous.

If your cpu can do 2.3 with stock voltages, you can use this mod.
Most if not all e6300's should do this easily.
Should give your 4850 a good boost.
You can find the conductive pens on ebay for 10$ last I checked.

It's not that hard. I did it with a e5400.

Thanks for all the replies. Yeah, the low/high multiplier on the E6300 is 6/7. Even though I could overclock it if my mobo allowed it, I'm not going to risk damaging the cpu with that pen trick. :p

That doesn't make sense though; the 3870X2 uses a lot more power than the 4850.
