I'd wait for an improved-HSF version.

Wish Anand would of included UTIII in the benchmarks - hint, hint...
Not sure why UE3-based games would show all that differently: I assume the relative performance levels for Bioshock are indicative of UT3 and Mass Effect as well.

how much power does 9800gtx draw? it has an 8 pin + a 6 pin pci-e adapter, the 4850 has only a 6 pin

No kidding. NCIX has the his model with Call of Juarez and Black box included. I sort of would like both of those and am tempted, but did want to wait for the 4870.

Can't believe this. AMD's lower-end card spanks NVidia's 9800GTX offering like a redheaded stepchild. Nvidia's price drop can't fix that, either. So glad to see real competition out there. AMD way overpaid for ATI, but it looks like the ATI guys are doing everything they can to justify the purchase (and bail out the company to boot). I'm no fanboy, but this is really good to see.

I can't WAIT for the 4870! Looks like I might have to upgrade...

You really think the 4850 spanks the 9800GTX? In most tests I've seen so far, they've mostly been trading shots.

I don't where you been looking , but when it comes to high res with 8x MSAA + , 4850 spanks the 9800GTX out of existence. Also for $150 , nvidia has no card that can match it in price vrs performance.

Saturday morning I have to be at Best Buy to get that VisionTek 4850 for 25% off.

Could this be a replay of the 8800GT with prices soon climbing higher than the SRP? Probably not with the 4870 coming soon.

Pulled the trigger at Best But with the 25% off for a walk-out price of $162.44. Now what's this crap I hear about needing big power supplies? Best I got is a 380W Antec Green.

So 4870 when it comes out is gonna be what ? $230? and then 4850 will be $170?

It seems that only reason why 4850 cost $200 now is because 4870 is not out yet.

with no AA they are about even, with 4xAA the 4850 is about 10% faster, with 8xAA the 4850 starts to just obliterate the 9800gtx.

4870 will be at least $299, but could jump higher depending on availability of gddr5, pricing of gtx 260, and the relative performance delta between gtx 260 and 4870.
