Damn, been waiting for this all day.

Each one is $199, but the MSI has a $25 rebate already. A 4850 for $175:Q

Meh, I knew I should just made a thread for this instead of posting it in the 4850 sticky...

Not to mention buy 2 at $189.99 each, so Crossfire for $380 (or possibly as low as $355 if the rebate is still valid).

Indeed. $355 for equal and better performance than $650 GTX280= win.

That will probably end up in the board partners court. Seeing as Previous gen 3xxx series card had it, you can expect DP variants to show up after the initial rush is over (same goes for customs cooling etc).

The real question now is which one to get? They all seem to feature the same cooler from what I can tell.

Pros: Its an OK card, nothing special.

Cons: Old tech. I would rather have a 8800GT from the other guys. Cheaper and same performance

Other Thoughts: Nice try, but no cigar. I am already selling it to get a GT. I had my hopes up for this series, but it looks like AMD loses again :/

From the review on the Gigabyte 4850. Amusing, since the 4850 seems to best the 8800GT in most tests.

looks like the nvidia trolls are out in full force

the 4850 bests the 8800GT in most tests and seem to handle the 9800GTX just fine as well

I heard in about a month these were going to drop 169.99.

Can you blame AMD? It's a smaller than G92 and they are easily making more money than Nvidia at this price point.

OMG, are you guys looking at the combos?

$30 discount if you buy the ASUS card and the P5Q Pro together
$30 discount if you buy the Diamond card with a Samsung F1 1TB drive
Throw in Crucial 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 for an extra $5.98 (with the Visiontek card)
Get the HIS card with 2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracers DDR2 800 for an extra $20

Nice! I am in the wrong country. :|

Rebates already? Maybe in a month I'll be able to get a 4870 for $200... Either that or a 9800gtx+y^2=z with a triple-slot cooler.

Why the rebates?

Perhaps these vendors know now that the 4870 with the DDR5 will really kick ars?
And maybe they already know that the SRP will come in at < they originally thought??

Those rebates so early for a brand new and well positioned product are giving me the feeling there's gonna be a price war.
Let the blood run green.

As much as I want to upgrade my video card, its the GDDR5 4870 that I want. The 4850 is a good deal, with some decent combos available it seems and should find a home in many user's systems. But I have no problem paying a little more for more performance, just not the hefty price tag of the GTX 280.

Seems AMD now has decent chipsets and respectable GPUs, all they need now is to get their CPU line up back on track and they should start making some money again.
