Just bought a new Sapphire 4850 Toxic and have have had a couple of game crashes. I am running Vista 64bit and 8.8 Catalyst drivers and running Crysis DX10 the game crashes to a black screen and I do a "cntrl alt del" and bring up TaskMan and kill the Crysis (after playing for about 20 minutes) process and am able to get back to the Vista desktop. Crysis DX9 seems to be ok. Also running Far Cry 64bit and the screen freezes for about 5 seconds and starts running again (happens about every 30 minutes); when I quit and go to the desktop it says the driver stopped responding and was able to restart. Previous to this I have a 8800GTS and no problems what so ever. I have had no other problems with the 4850 and the 8.8 drivers installed on first try and it is much faster than my 8800GTS.

Heck, my 4850 runs so hot I'm afraid to do any tweaking with it. Reset it to the default speeds? Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks for the suggestions. I bought the 4850 Toxic (default: GPU 675 - Memory 1100) because it has a Zalman 900 cooler on it. Idle is 45C and load is 80C. My case has 7 fans so airflow shouldn't be an issue. I had a 8800GTS 640MB in it before and temps were about the same. With the 8800GTS I never had any problems (rock solid) but was getting a little slow.

maybe try putting a 120mm blowing across it. I have a 8800gt and that thing is real hot, used a 120mm blowing across, lowered like 5C.
